McLarens Group Register Back-to-Back Victories with Strong All-Round Performances
McLarens Group continued their impressive run in the ongoing T20 tournament, recording back-to-back victories with commanding wins over Pan Asia Bank and Astron Limited in Matches 3 and 4, respectively. The two performances highlighted the team’s depth, consistency and balance across batting and bowling.
In Match 3 against Pan Asia Bank, McLarens Group won the toss and elected to bat, posting an imposing 180 for 6 in their 20 overs. The innings was anchored by Saminda Fernando, who produced an outstanding knock of 85 off 48 deliveries, combining clean stroke play with smart rotation of the strike. He was well supported by Ethan Ransilige (22 off 14) and Hasindu Perera (19 off 13), ensuring momentum was maintained through the middle and latter stages. Among the Pan Asia Bank bowlers, Gayan Bopage stood out with economical figures of 2 for 17.
In reply, Pan Asia Bank were bowled out for 134 in 19.2 overs. Uneth Peiris led the resistance with a brisk 51 off 26 balls, while Sadew Soya (26) and Nuraj Arunashantha (18) contributed useful runs. However, regular wickets stalled the chase, with Ethan Ransilige (3 for 28) and Hasindu Perera (2 for 24) leading the bowling effort as McLarens Group secured a convincing 46-run victory.
McLarens Group followed this with another solid performance in Match 4 against Astron Limited. After winning the toss and opting to bat, they posted 147 for 5, built around a composed 52 off 46 balls from Ethan Ransilige. Sadeesha Gamage (33 off 37) and Lahiru Amarasekara (30 off 20) provided valuable support to set a competitive total. Astron’s bowlers kept things tight, with Sihina Dewmith (2 for 27) and Mahesh Perera (2 for 25) picking up key wickets.
Astron Limited’s chase never fully gained momentum and they were dismissed for 123 in 19.2 overs. Lahiru Amarasekara starred with the ball, returning excellent figures of 3 for 17, while Shehan Sandaruwan (2 for 14) and Ethan Ransilige (2 for 20) ensured sustained pressure throughout. McLarens Group sealed the match with a 24-run victory.
