McLarens Group Marks International Women’s Day 2026 with Give to Gain
International Women’s Day 2026 at McLarens Group was marked by an evening of reflection, inspiration and celebration, bringing together the women of the Group under the meaningful theme, “Give to Gain.”
The event commenced with an inspiring address by Group Managing Director, Shehara de Silva, who set the tone for the evening by highlighting the importance of creating spaces where women are supported, empowered and given opportunities to thrive. This was followed by the launch of the official International Women’s Day video, capturing the essence of the theme and the collective spirit of the Group.
A highlight of the evening was an engaging and heartfelt Q&A session with Umaria Sinhawansa, whose journey resonated deeply with the audience. Through her candid reflections, she spoke about navigating challenges, embracing identity and growing through both setbacks and successes.
The energy in the room continued to build as Umaria took the stage for a captivating musical performance, creating a moment of connection and celebration that brought everyone together.
Adding a powerful and thought-provoking dimension to the evening, employees presented a skit that shed light on the often unspoken challenges women face in the workplace. Through relatable storytelling, the performance encouraged reflection and dialogue, reminding all presents of the importance of empathy, awareness and support in building truly inclusive environments.
The event also showcased the diverse talents within the Group, including a heartfelt musical performance by one of our own employees, further adding to the sense of pride and unity that defined the evening.
The celebration concluded with a relaxed and engaging sip and paint session, where participants expressed themselves creatively while connecting with one another.
More than a celebration, the event served as a reminder that progress is built through small, consistent acts of giving, support, mentorship, opportunity and recognition. When we give, we create space for others to grow and in doing so, we grow together.
