A Blessed and Resilient Beginning to the New Year at McLarens Group
The McLarens Group welcomed the new year with a moment of unity, reflection, renewed hope and a meaningful pause to give thanks for how far we have come and to look ahead with confidence. This year’s celebration carried special significance, as it followed a year that tested our strength, resilience, and togetherness in the face of unprecedented challenges, including the severe floods that impacted many of our people and communities.
The morning began on a deeply spiritual and inclusive note, with priests representing the Buddhist, Catholic and Islamic faiths coming together to bless the people and the workplace. Each religious leader shared inspiring words centered on perseverance, compassion, and gratitude, reminding everyone that even in the most difficult moments, unity and faith carry us forward. In a touching gesture, the Catholic priest blessed the entire office with holy water, symbolizing renewal, protection and a fresh beginning.
Following this blessed opening, reflections were shared by Shehara de Silva, Group Managing Director, and Kanchana Wijesekara, who acknowledged the challenges of the past year and the resilience shown by the McLarens family. Their messages spoke of standing together through adversity, supporting one another and emerging stronger, which is a testament to the spirit that defines the Group.
The celebration concluded with the opening of the traditional new year table, bringing a sweet close to the gathering while symbolizing not an end, but a renewed beginning. After a year of recovery and resilience, this simple yet powerful ritual reflected hope, continuity and the promise of better days ahead.
