McLarens Overall CHAMPIONS at the 36th Mercantile Inter Firm Team Championships 2019
The McLarens Shuttlers demonstrated total and complete domination at the month long 36th Inter Firm Team Badminton Championships 2019. Our passionate McLarens Shuttlers boasted their talent by emerging OVERALL CHAMPIONS, with a total team score of 337 points. The team scoped by 7 championships across the divisions. Having fought their way into being overall champions in 2016, 2017 and 2018, this year’s win is added onto the mantel of championships the McLarens Shuttlers should be proud of. One of the biggest tournaments in the badminton calendar, the Inter Firm Championships comprised of 218 companies taking part with approximately 1800 participants.
With a total of 7 championships to call their own, the many of the McLarens Shuttlers were awarded with exceptional individual performance awards. The 7 championships include Men and Women’s ‘A’ Division, Men’s Over 40 ‘A’ Division, Men ‘B’ Division, Women’s ‘C’ Division, Mixed ‘A’ Division and Mixed ‘C’ Division. In addition to this outstanding achievement, the teams managed to secure other divisional podium finishes. Men’s Over 50 Master, Men’s ‘A’ Division Team 2 and Mixed ‘B’ Division became runners up while Men’s Over 50 Master Team 2 and Mixed ‘B’ Division finished in 3rd place.
The exceptional and noteworthy performances by individual players played a monumental role in bringing home the championships. Accolades were given to Sachin Dias, Achini Ratnasiri, Kasun Amarasena, Upendra Jayawardena, Kaushali Dissanayake, and Hasini Amablagoda for their brilliant performances.
These triumphant victories highlight the team’s passion, perseverance and the undeniable teamwork that exists. We would like to convey our appreciation to all team players for driving the company to its victory and hope to continue down the same victorious path in times to come.
