In light of the recent Trail Walk 2016, McLarens Group together with GAC Group Sri Lanka donated USD 10,000 to support TRAIL’s cause by bringing together the Nation in the fight against Cancer.

Incepted in 2011, TRAIL is an initiative by Nathan Sivagananathan and Sarinda Unamboowe in conjunction with Colours of Courage Trust. The 670 KM Charity walk carries a message of unity and understanding while raising funds in aid of cancer treatment. With the support of over 30,000 Participants and more than 250,000 Donors in 2011, the proceeds from the Trail Walk helped establish the Tellippalai Trail Cancer Hospital in Jaffna. Fully functional and equipped with cutting edge equipment, the Hospital has successfully treated over 4,500 patients since opening its founding in 2014. This year, the TRAIL 2016 Walk commenced from Northern Point Pedro to Southern Dondra Head with the aim of raising USD 5 Million to include a Cancer Treatment Facility- at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital in Galle.

The Presentation of the cheque was made by Mr. Wasantha Rathnayake- coordinator on behalf of McLarens to Trail Brand Ambassador- Mahela Jayawardene. The representatives from the group included: Navin Perera (General Manager- GAC Marine Services), Mohan Rodrigo (General Manager – GAC Marine Out Ports) and Dilan Seneviratne (Representative from McLarens Group). The GAC and McLarens staff joined the walk from Seenigama to Unawatuna in Galle and provided refreshments to all participants.

We are privileged to be a part of the TRAIL initiative and look forward to continuing to support this Cause and many more in the future.
