Mclarens Group joined hands as the first Sri Lankan company to invest and join top Global Investors in sponsoring the efforts of “Room to Read”, a global nonprofit that believes World Change Starts with Educated Children.
Keeping in line with the group’s strategy focusing on ‘Quality Education’ as one of the Group CSR Pillars, McLarens has committed to funding a school in Pupuressa, situated off Galaha in the Kandy District to improve primary level reading skills by getting children to read in their mother tongue, helping teachers become better instructors of reading and supplying schools with quality reading materials. Furthermore, McLarens will provide job shadowing programs to participants of Room to Read’s Girls’ Education Program.
The first phase of the project was completed on 28th February and 1st March where McLarens Group staff members got together to build the school’s Eco Hut, provided recycling bins, developed a vegetable farm inside the school and handed over sports equipment for the kids and the school.
The 3 year long program will involve constant engagement with the school and their progress in terms of education and school facilities.
