Manager Operations

McLarens group is seeking an aspiring, energetic & a competent individual to join under Petroleum & Energy cluster as a Manager – Operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attending to ground handling operations, husbandry and logistics requirement of a leading container shipping line.
  • Monitor and manage the operations team and boarding officers fulfill all operational requirements.
  • Oversee the financial aspects, budgets to achieve targets and ensure effective cost controls while adhering to company policies.
  • Formulates business strategy and implements short- & long-term plans to achieve results.
  • Compliance on meticulous work ethic with minimum errors and operational excellence with outstanding results.
  • Proactiveness of handling operations outlined in the operations manuals to ensure accuracy and efficiency in execution.
  • Respond to inquiries from principals/customers promptly and efficiently to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Maintain strong relationship with key principals/clients.
  • Ensure subordinates follow required SOPs and regulatory requirements and lead by example to maintain smooth functioning and efficiency.
  • Attend to all regulatory requirements and certifications such as DGMS, SLPA, SL Navy, MOD, and other relevant authorities in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Attend port operations and stakeholder meetings as required to ensure smooth functioning and timely decision-making.
  • Prepare and maintain relevant records and reports accurately and timely for submission to management.
  • Manage the team on resource allocation, performance management, training, and staff motivation as per company requirements to ensure timely completion, retention, and development.
  • Develop new local clients to grow business sustainability in alignment with organizational strategic goals.
  • Manage costs through cost-saving initiatives and business process re-engineering to improve profitability.
  • Improve cash flow and working capital and negotiating better credit terms with suppliers.

Skills and Experience Required

  • GCE O/L & A/L, along with a degree or Diploma in Shipping & Logistics.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a similar role within the logistics industry.
  • Excellent communication and IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning abilities to solve complex problems.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of financial and management accounting, contract law, marketing, and human resource management.
  • Proficiency in both English and Sinhala languages.
